Falu Mine

Discover a piece of the exciting swedish history and the Falu Mine with its mighty halls and winding galleries in 67 meters deep. A guided tour takes about one hour and tours are held all year round.

Mine Museum

Long time ago the Falun Mine was the biggest copper mine in Europe and known as Sweden’s treasure chest. The mine was closed in 1992, mining had been going on for 1000 years. Today Falun Mine, as a part of the Falun World Heritage site, is on Unesco’s World Heritage List because it is considered so valuable that it is a concern for the whole of humanity. The Mine Museum, which houses an exhibition about the birth of the mine and the Little Mining Village – experiments and stories for the whole family – is open between the 6th June and 13th September and thereafter every weekend in september.
